Taking the love of the iDevice to a whole new (unhealthy) level is the Smart Pen, last week revealed at the Tokyo Toy Show.

If it reminds you of the Tamagotchi from your youth, it should, as it’s from the same inventor.

Slap your iPhone into the pooches frame, and the downloaded app comes alive to reveal a face. The device will recognize voice and gesture commands and responds to touches on its face (over 100 reactions).

Obviously it walks around, sits and wags its tail, and its personality will develop as you feed it virtual food and play games with it.

Not available here yet, but you can get one from Japan for $100.
