The Bloodhound SSC is a car that’s been designed to go faster than the speed of sound. I use the term “car” quite flippantly here.

WARNING: It’s early January, so your weak, feeble, holiday-softened mind may not be ready for the numbers and specs I’m about to throw at you, so don’t come crying to me afterwards with bleeding eyes.

The Bloodhound SSC weighs over 7 tons and has a sleek body of about 14 metres long. Because they’ve added the weight in their engines, Cosworth have also taken on the job of moving the car around. They’ll be doing this with the help of 135 000 BHP (100 237kw).

Take a breath.

Take all the power generated by the F1 cars on the starting grid of any race, times that power by 6, and now you’re in about the same ball park.

The project will hit full speed in the coming months when the car will attempt to hit the speed of sound.

Yoh!
