One of my absolute favorite cars of all time (in the sports version anyway) has gone electric. Don’t look so shocked.
It’s taken the Italian car makers a while to get the aerodynamics and weight just right for this electrified 2-door hatch, but the result is a 13% increase in both. Puffs along thanks to a 82kw electric motor that’s good for 160km range. Here it is doing some of those k’s.
Best bit? It’s got a sort of KERS system on board. A regenerative braking system converts kinetic energy giving you a slight boost in range by charging the lithium-ion battery. It’s a Formula One car!!! Here’s the front. Not like a F1 car at all!
As the Toyota hybrid’s have taught us, the instrument panel and nerdy read-outs are everything, and the Fiat 500e has a 7-inch one. Has an integrated electronic vehicle information center that gives you readouts of speed and range and real-time feedback on state-of-charge and driving style. Here’s what it looks like.
