Great news for Xbox owners in the never-ending battle of the game consoles, introducing Illumiroom.
Sure it’s a pretty terrible name, but wait till you see what it does.

Announced last week at CES, the Illumiroom technology extends your screen to include the entire room around it using your Xbox Kinect and a projector.

Explained in marketing fluff: “It augments the area surrounding a television screen with projected visualizations to enhance the traditional living room entertainment experience and can change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new game experiences.”

Of course there are one or two questions, for example “when and where will we see this tech applied” and “why not just buy a projector”? But the possibilities do look enticing.
