Well with a little help from Milan-based traditional coach building house Touring Superlegerra they do.
Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza 2014, this is Mini’s interpretation of an open-top two-seater that they reckon would do well on the sweeping bends of an Cape Townian mountain during your holiday break this coming December.
Before the days of the Industrial Revolution, all cars ended the production process in the garage of a custom coach builder who hand made your mind’s vision for your car’s body to the very finest detail. Touring Superlegerra were such a custom building house, and although they haven’t been building many coaches since the new millenium started, they have given us some gorgeous concepts to perve at, such as the Bellagio Fastback Touring, based on the Maserati Quattroporte
and the Bentley Continental Flying Star, a shooting-brake model based on the Bentley Continental GT.
And now there’s the elecric Mini roadster to look at.
Mini’s Superleggera vision captures the essence of a classic roadster meeting the stark contrast of an electric drive-train to maximize modern driving dynamics.
Looks a bit like an Aston Martin that had a fight with a shrink ray. Anything compared to an Aston is a compliment!
