Playstation 4 is coming tomorrow. What to expect NEW GADGET

evolution-playstation-released-ps4-launch-0

In case you’ve been dossing under a tree in the awesome South African Summer sun, there is some big news coming tomorrow, well at least I think there is. 20 Feb marks the day of a very big announcement by Sony, many in the industry believing it’s the announcement of the Playsation 4. Just in case it is, here’s what the rumour mill is saying at the moment. Specs Hardware is always a guess, but the internet says it’ll be hosting a AMD x86 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD. Will it have 4K resolution? Only time will tell. But there are those that claim it’ll be 10 times faster than the current product. That will be something to behold. Control For me this is a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, but that hasn’t stopped people suggesting that something completely different is on… Read More »

Apple iWatch NEW CONCEPT

apple-iwatch-concept-0

There is one good thing about the lull between iDevices, and that’s the fact that iFans busy themselves with deciding what they want Apple to start making. Case in point is Esben Oxholm who has devised one of the best looking iConcepts you’ve seen in 2013. The watch obviously takes its look from the iPhone 5, matte finish, blck aluminium and shiny glass. There’s the familiar “Home” button nestled neatly below the beautiful curved glass display and a rubber strap for comfort. If only…

donya02

Here’s a bulky, unnecessary and yet quite cool solution to watching 3D compatible YouTube videos on the go. Someone at Japanese online retailer Donya thought it would be a good time to start selling a holster for the iPhone that holds the phone still and projects 3D YouTube videos to the viewer through these binoculars and a special app. Ummm…ya! Olympus SZ-31 MR. The Twitter gen will almost love this camera FULL REVIEW

Awesome. A camera for the Twitter generation. A generation that really cares about what it looks like, doesn’t think any job needs much effort and can express itself (often not too well) in 140 characters or less. There are both good and bad in the above statement, and there’s both good and bad in this camera. Things I like straight off the bat are the pretty rugged looking body. It’s got some sweet curves, a rugged flash pop-up button and is thin enough (almost) to fit into a pair of skinny jeans, a must if it’s going to appeal to the Twitter generation. More good news is that it’s got a 16MP CMOS sensor, and the menu and settings within are stupendously easy to decipher and work out. For a first timer looking for a camera to take basic make-me-creative party pics, this camera comes in near the top. The… Read More »

If dubstep was clothing, this would be the jacket. Machina MIDI jacket NEW GADGET

MIDi02

Kickstarter is at it again, bringing the very best of the home-based gadget designer to the world’s eyeballs. And this time its Santa Monica clothing company Machina who are looking for some crowd love to bring their pretty impressive MIDI controlled musical jacket to the market. The jacket comprises a MIDI controller which can actually be adapted to many purposes. The controller is made up of numerous sensors, all reprogrammable by the wearer. Four flexible sensors which can detect your finger’s position, one accelerometer which can detect your arm’s acceleration, a joystick and 4 push buttons. They’re not using Oriental Plaza special material in the construction of the jackets either. They’re made up of industrial grade materials which are commonly used for other purposes (boat sails, camping tents),they are completely waterproof and hard to work with. They’re still in need of a bit of backing on Kickstarter, so visit them… Read More »

Bosch makes cars that drive themselves NEW TECH

A few weeks back I posted a video of an Audi TT auto-piloting the Thunder Hills race-track. As if that wasn’t enough of a move to strip us humans of the enjoyment of actually driving ourselves around, now German tools Bosch have gone and made it so that while our cars are doing the driving for us, they aren’t going to be able to bump into each other, or ever worse, any pedestrians. Say it with me: “This is horseshit!” The first system they’ve come up with is admittedly very clever. An automatic swerve and slow system which triggers when a car detects a pedestrian in the road. This is good because not all pedestrians deserve to be knocked over. Only people on bicycles on Sunday morning and Metro cops. Functionality coming soon? The ability to warn the car behind you that your car is going to automatically brake and… Read More »

Most tripped out Mazda RX7 on earth CUSTOM CAR

At only 19 years old, Corbin Goodwin has started his own custom car garage. Admittedly his premises is the garage next to his parents house and he has only one, rather ugly car to his name, but he’s on his way. This is his 297kw, rear-wheel-drive, Mazda RX-7. What you might be thinking is “deathtrap”, and you’d be right. But this is also one of the most enthusiastic, quick and fun customs I’ve ever seen. Well done mate!
