Rolls Royce has this week put on display the very first model of the new Rolls Royce Phantom II, the first redesign of the car since 2003. It’s all in celebration of their flagship dealership in Long Island, New York.
We got a first sneak peak of it at the Geneva Motorshow, and now we’re getting to see what the car will actually look like on the road when it arrives for the affluent and wealthy to buy in September.
The 2013 Phantom will come with full LED rectangular headlights and restyled bumpers and of course the familiar RR grille.
It’s all driven by a naturally aspirated 6.75-liter V12 engine that develops 336kw. That’s 0-100 in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 238km/h. Not bad for a barge.
Hysterically enough, they’ve managed to improve fuel economy by 10% by mating the engine to an 8-speed gearbox and making it rear-wheel drive. Apparently even the bosses of the oil companies need to curb use of their product.
The interior features an infotatinment system with navigation system and 3D maps and guided tours. The boot isn’t a boot, it’s a wooded storage unit with drinks cooler and glasses…champagne obviously.
Financial crisis aside, Rolls Royce reported a 31% increase in car sales in 2011. That’s 3 538 rich people with jobs for a chauffeur each. Maybe SA should follow suit and let the rich people help by getting unemployment down.
Whatever you do, take a look through the gallery below and get an idea of the luxury this car affords you. Comments in the box!
