The Facebook Creative Labs have released their next product, and it’s called Slingshot, a video and picture sharing app for Android and iOS.
While on the surface the app doesn’t look much different to other photo sharing apps, once you use it, you’ll see why it is: what you “sling” at your friends, can only be unlocked once they sling something back at you. So they’ll only see what you’ve shared once they’ve shared something with you.
An interesting idea. But it got me thinking. Thinking about how many people I know only sit get a chance to participate in sharing like this, say, once a day. For a brief amount of time. Usually when they’re sitting down…on the toilet. Urgh. Needless to say, I anticipate a lot of bathroom doors and tiled background selfies in my future.
